An Australian educator and a Cambodian community leader — two people who genuinely care about changing lives through teaching.
Founder & Australian Programme Director
Mike is an experienced Australian educator with a passion for making quality teacher training accessible to anyone who wants to make a difference. He designed the Cambodia Ready TESOL Certificate programme from the ground up — built specifically for the Cambodian classroom context.
After spending time teaching and volunteering in South-East Asia, Mike saw a clear need for a practical, affordable pathway for Australians (and others) to teach English in Cambodia with real preparation and real support. Cambodia Ready is that pathway.
Mike is your first point of contact from Australia. He answers every enquiry personally and guides you through the full enrolment and certification process. He remains on WhatsApp throughout your teaching placement for any curriculum or classroom questions.
"I built this programme because I know that the right training and the right support can turn anyone with a passion for teaching into an effective, confident classroom teacher. Cambodia needs good teachers — and there are people out there who would love this life if they just knew where to start."
— Mike Wood, Founder
Cambodian Coordinator & On-Ground Support
Chantrea was born and raised in Phnom Penh. She speaks fluent Khmer and English, and has an intimate knowledge of the city, its schools, its culture, and its people. She is the heartbeat of Cambodia Ready's on-ground operation.
Every new teacher who arrives in Cambodia is met personally by Chantrea at Phnom Penh International Airport. She handles accommodation, local orientation, SIM card setup, school introductions, and everything else that makes the first weeks of living in a new country manageable and even exciting.
Chantrea also co-designed the cultural content of the TESOL certificate — ensuring that every graduate understands the Cambodian classroom context before they walk through the door.
"When a new teacher arrives at the airport, they're often a little nervous. By the time I take them to their first good Cambodian meal, they're already falling in love with this country. That moment — seeing someone realise Cambodia is even better than they imagined — never gets old."
— Chantrea In, Cambodian Coordinator
You're not dealing with an automated system or a faceless company. Mike and Chantrea both respond personally to every message — usually within hours.
Mike understands the Australian perspective — the questions, the concerns, the culture. Chantrea understands Cambodia. Together, they cover every angle.
Both Mike and Chantrea have put everything into Cambodia Ready because they believe in what it does. This isn't just a business — it's a mission.
Mike is your Australian contact. Chantrea is your Cambodia contact. Both are on WhatsApp for you.
